(1) DO NOT use any pesticides or other methods to kill or eradicate honey bees found. Even ifthe pesticide doesn’t work at killing all of the bees, there will be lingering effects of the applicationand we may not be willing to continue work.(2) DO NOT call a pest control company! Most pest control companies don’t even differentiate between types of stinging insects, calling anything that stings a bee. They usually will handle theremoval of bees as though they are yellow jackets or other pest insects. It is unlikely the person coming out is even a beekeeper, let alone interested in the well being of honey bee populations.(3) DO NOT panic. With colors of black and yellow, nature reminds us that this insect could be adanger to predators, but honey bees have very little interest in hurting us. Honey bees avoid stinging at all costs, and are even less likely to attack when they are part of a swarm. Stay back, avoid getting in their way, and enjoy watching them until we arrive to gather them.
